Traditionally, the courses that are offered by FEMA and the Emergency Management Institute have focused directly on the study of emergency management through curricula based rather than actual practice. Our members are located globally and bring real world experience based on an academic curriculum. From the Director to the faculty in the field, you will find no other professionals more dedicated, passionate, and ready to serve you.

Attend and participate during scheduled class times – this is considered “synchronous” learningWork on your own time according to a pre-determined assignment schedule. This is known as “asynchronous” learning and is what you’ll experience at NEPTA
Typically one professor teaches you face-to-face in a physical classroom to 20 or 30 students during any one timeOne professor interacts with you online via visual presentations, message boards, and videos such as webinars
Students are typically local to the university campus and surrounding area limiting real world experienceStudents participate from around the globe and are primarily working adults with an age range of 21 to 64. This means you’ll interact with a variety of ages, experiences and cultures further enhancing real world experiences
Professors use an online learning management system (LMS) to post and collect assignments, announce scores, and more. Students use computers to research and complete assignmentsNEPTA’s online class architecture is similar to in-person learning, so if you have attended any college courses, or professional courses in the last decade, you should be comfortable working in an LMS.

Emergencies and disasters happen all the time, in every community, and when we least expect them. Whether you are new to the emergency management profession, work in public service such as a firefighter, paramedic, or law enforcement these courses are for you. During an emergency, multiple agencies work together to achieve a common goal. Not having proper training in command and control, coordination and communication, as well as lacking the necessary skills needed to effectively and efficiently work in a multi-agency event will cause failures. NEPTA provides training solutions for training at all levels of emergency and disaster management to include community neighborhoods, first responders, emergency managers, public works, and crew leaders. Emergencies and Disasters require serious training, training that is serious and comprehensive.  NEPTA will not just rise to a particular occasion but rather rise to a higher level of training.

NOTE:  ONLINE TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION COMING SOON!

Obtaining a certification is designed to provide an individual with a solid foundation in a certain profession or field. For instance, Certification in Hazard Mitigation will provide employers with a peace of mind that the person with the certification has a solid understanding and is knowledgeable of all aspects of mitigation. Furthermore, a certification show value where the individual keeps up to date on professional attributes. It show an employer that you are a valuable member of the team and willing to learn new things. Great as a marketing tool and indicates a willingness to stay up-to-date with current industry standards. It also separates you from your peers and enhances management’s confidence.
